Food and Drink

Fishguard and Goodwick’s history as a major sardine fishery came and went during just 50 years in the late 18th century. Nowadays there is a much wider variety of food and drink at all prices from our traditional fish and chip shops in both Goodwick and Fishguard, carveries, pubs serving food, cafés, takeaways, restaurants and hotels.

Over the past few years there has been an upsurge in Cafés with a good coffee and ‘something nice’ being offered by a range of venues. Inviting places to meet with friends, chat and learn more about the area.

Until the ‘90s there used to be 14 pubs for less than 5,000 inhabitants, Now you can still find plenty of local colour, history and friendly banter plus sport, a folk session, and generous portions of good food.

Our restaurants can present everything from lunchtime snacks to fine dining offering plenty of variety across  a range of tastes including authentic Asian, Indian, quality dining and good, wholesome local food.

For takeaway you’ll find a choice of two fish and chip shops, good Indian food, a kebab house, fried chicken, and Chinese food (not listed here).
