Aberjazz Jazz & Blues Festival
25-29 August 2016
Five days of great jazz and blues in and around Fishguard’s cafés, pubs and open spaces. Thirty-one acts and six workshops over the August bank holiday! Special attraction – Jacqui Dankworth
Thursday 22nd includes Allspice, the Pembrokeshire Ukulele Pirates, and in the cozy atmosphere of Pepper’s café, Jasmine Power, David Pepper and friends.
Friday starts with Dixieland jazz on the old quay with Tudor’s Rhythm Kings. Later there’s the all-woman Jazz Heritage Wales Allstars, and fantastic New Orleans jazz from Tipitina.
Saturday has drumming and music-making workshops for everyone in Fishguard Carnival. The jazz-filled evening includes the Charlie Wood Trio in Theatr Gwaun.
Guitar and ukulele workshops begin Sunday, with Lowri Evans, Keith Lawlor, and more to listen to in the afternoon. Sunday night will be jumping with salsa from Son Guarachando, unless you’d prefer to relax to music in one of the pub venues.
Versatile pianist Huw Warren plays in Peppers on Monday evening. Later the big finale is led by Indigo Kings and Cut the Funk.
AberJazz is a non-profit making group run entirely by volunteers since its conception ten years ago. We bring quality live jazz, blues and new music to Fishguard throughout the year.
