Fishguard International Music Festival
From the 20th to 30th July 2015, at venues in and around the town, Fishguard will again play host to internationally acclaimed artists from across the globe.
The 2014 Fishguard International Music Festival was the first to be put together by new joint artistic directors Peter Donohoe and Gillian Green. Together they have created a 12-day celebration of classical music that includes visiting orchestras, chamber ensembles, opera and solo artists. Highlights include: Orchestral concerts from BBC National Orchestra of Wales, members of Orchestra of Welsh National Opera, Sinfonia Cymru and National Youth Orchestra of Wales, A fully staged production of Humperdinck’s Hansel and Gretel, Chamber music from Peter Donohoe, Alissa Margulis, Per Nystrom , Maggini Quartet and La Mer Trio, Choral music from the John S Davies Singers.
Running alongside the concert programme was a series of related events, including a Last Invasion Walk and a piano masterclass by Peter Donohoe, while the festival payed special tribute to Welsh composer William Mathias, who would have celebrated his 80th birthday in 2014.
