Tregwynt Mill

A tradition in the making: here at Melin Tregwynt the legacy of Welsh doublecloth weaving is dearly handed from generation to generation.

Our mill has been a ‘one stop shop’ for local farmers since the 17th century – bringing their fleeces to be washed in the stream then spun into yarn, before finally being woven into cloth. Today we find our yarns from further afield but weaving in the same mill building continues.

Our family company has been weaving here at Tregwynt Mill for over 100 years. The skills and knowledge of all our staff, both past and present, keep the tradition of Welsh weaving alive.

Traddodiad ar waith: yma ym Melin Tregwynt, mae etifeddiaeth gwehyddu brethyn dwbl Cymreig yn cael ei throsglwyddo â chariad o genhedlaeth i genhedlaeth.

Mae ein melin wedi bod yn ‘siop un stop’ i ffermwyr lleol ers yr 17eg ganrif – byddent yn dod â’u cnu i’w olchi yn y nant ac yna’i nyddu’n edafedd cyn ei wehyddu’n derfynol i wneud brethyn. Erbyn heddiw, daw ein hedafedd o diroedd pellach, ond mae’r gwehyddu’n dal i ddigwydd yn yr un adeiladau yn y felin.

Yma ym Melin Tregwynt, mae ein cwmni teuluol wedi bod yn gwehyddu ers can mlynedd. Sgiliau’r staff, a’u gwybodaeth, nawr ac yn y gorffennol, sy’n cadw traddoniad gwehyddu Cymreig yn fyw.

Want to visit? You’ll find us situated between St Davids and Fishguard, just off the main coast road (A487). We are clearly signposted off the main road, and when you turn and head down the lane in the ‘Abermawr’ direction, you’ll also find helpful signs at every junction until you arrive at the mill.
